| Carolyn Usinger authored the Fast-Track books and conducts the hands-on workshops.
After receiving an MBA from UC Berkeley, she created the Business Start-Up Kits in 1988 and published them with the California Chamber of Commerce for twelve years.
In 2006, she created the SBDCstore, which allows Small Business Development Centers and other business assistance organizations to offer 850+ books, software, online classes, and in-person classes to the small business community. She currently serves as the store's administrator. |
| One-stop | |
The kits were designed as one-stop resources so that you never have to walk into a government office or wait on hold during your first year in business. They were inspired because I actually completed the forms and have started multiple businesses. I've stood in the government lines, have read the government instructions, and been frustrated on Saturdays when there was no one who could answer our questions. |
| Simplify | |
In the 1980s and 1990s, the kits were critical because entrepreneurs had no information. Now with the Internet, there is too much information. The Business Start-Up Kits simplify things so you can get through all the requirements quickly. |
| Fast | |
The kits are designed to be “who, what, when, where, why and how much” and then the form. Our goal is to make forming a business and complying with government requirements fast – so you can focus on your business. |
